The United States is discussing the release of oil from reserves with China and India

The United States is persuading China and India to join the West in releasing oil from reserves to increase market supply. This was announced at a press conference on Thursday by the head of the White House National Economic Council, Brian Deese.

“We continue to engage with non-member countries of the International Energy Agency (IEA), China and other countries in terms of their reserves, and we will continue to do so,” he said.

Asked if similar talks were under way with India, the White House spokesman said the Indian authorities were already expressing their readiness to join the measure to put oil from their strategic reserves on the market. “We now see an extraordinary desire to participate in this coordinated marketing, including from countries that are members of the IEA, as well as those that are not, including from the Indian government,” he said.
