In Europe, Porsche delivered 22,791 cars in the first quarter, an annual increase of 18% – despite the fact that the figures were very strong over the same period in 2021. The German market had a similar evolution, with 6,925 deliveries, representing an increase of 16 percent. In China, the largest single market for Porsche, the sports car manufacturer delivered 17,685 copies.

The resurgence of the coronavirus epidemic, associated with the closure of Porsche centers in some regions and logistical challenges, led to a 20% drop in deliveries. A total of 28,991 vehicles were delivered to Porsche customers in the Asia-Pacific region, Africa and the Middle East. In the US, 13,042 cars were delivered to Porsche customers, despite supply and transit issues affecting several car brands. The number is comparable to the best first quarter ever recorded in 2021.

“In light of the exceptional circumstances affecting the automotive industry in general, our sales teams and dealers performed well in the first quarter,” said Detlev von Platen, Sales and Marketing Member of the Porsche AG Executive Committee. “The emergence of coronavirus in some regions such as China, along with significant supply and logistics challenges, has put us to the test. At the same time, our products continue to be in high demand among customers around the world – as well as in Europe, the Americas and China. ”

The biggest demand was, once again, for Porsche SUVs: the Porsche Cayenne was delivered to 19,029 customers. Macan’s deliveries totaled 18,329 units. The all-electric Porsche Taycan reached 9,470 customers. The flagship 911 sports car has 9,327 deliveries worldwide. A total of 7,735 Panamera copies reached customers. A further 4,536 deliveries were recorded for the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman.

“We remain cautious about the second quarter, especially in light of the armed conflict in Ukraine, which we see with dismay and concern for those involved. Human health and safety are paramount. The impact on our business activities is continuously reviewed and evaluated by our group of experts. Despite all this, we remain optimistic about our overall perspective and will not compromise when it comes to creating exciting and unique experiences for our customers, ”says Detlev von Platen.
