Poland can no longer wait for a decision from the European Commission. “With regard to security issues, we have taken a step further and proposed rules blocking the import of coal from Russia at the country level. This will be enshrined in law,” said Peter Muller.
As explained by a representative of the Polish government, a draft law “On decisions to counter support for Russian aggression in Ukraine” was drafted. According to him, “given the passivity of the European Council in adopting new sanctions”, Poland is trying to find ways to address security issues in order to take decisions at state level.
“We understand that this could lead to legislative problems, but we can no longer wait for the EU to react. Therefore, such a ban is being introduced,” Muller added.
