Mercedes-Benz gives up manual gearboxes

The transition to automatic gearboxes will be made for each model, when a new generation of vehicles will be introduced, said a spokesman for the Stuttgart group, writes Agerpres

“As electrification increases, we see customer demand migrating to electromobility components, batteries and electric propulsion systems,” he said. As a result, Mercedes-Benz will “gradually stop offering manual gearboxes”.

In the current Mercedes-Benz portfolio, the A-Class and B-Class as well as the CLA are still available with manual transmission.

The transition to automatic transmissions would take place in 2023, but the German carmaker did not specify the exact date, due to competition.
