RTE has issued a statement urging French companies and local authorities to reduce their energy consumption on Monday, especially between 7am and 10am local time.

RTE also urged households to step up their use of electrical appliances on Saturday and Sunday.

RTE said electricity consumption could reach 73,000 megawatts (MW) on Monday morning, while electricity production could reach 65,000 MW.

As a result, France could import up to 11,000 MW, RTE said.

The network operator does not expect any power outages and will update its forecast on Sunday.
